Executive Director (Part Time, Remote)

The Small Business Mentorship Initiative (SBMI) seeks a dynamic and results-oriented Executive Director to lead our volunteer-driven nonprofit organization. This role will advance our mission through fundraising, program development, and outreach. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nonprofit fundraising and development, as well as exceptional organizational and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

 

Fundraising and Development

  • Lead and execute strategic fundraising initiatives, including two to three annual events, to meet and exceed revenue goals.

  • Develop and implement donor engagement strategies to cultivate relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and grant-making organizations.

  • Create compelling fundraising materials and campaign content that effectively communicate our mission and impact.

  • Identify, pursue, and manage grant opportunities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Build and maintain a diversified funding stream & pipeline, including donations, grants, sponsorships, and membership dues.

  • Monitor and evaluate fundraising outcomes, providing regular reports to the Board of Directors.

 

Organizational Management

  • Streamline communications and task management systems to enhance organizational efficiency.

  • Oversee contractors and part-time employees.

  • Competence in creating, understanding, and managing non-profit financial documents, including budgets, financial statements, and fundraising reports.

 

Communications

  • Utilize digital platforms, project management tools, and social media to engage stakeholders and amplify fundraising efforts.

  • Communicate regularly with the public, donors, and partners to maintain transparency and build trust.

 

Board Collaboration

  • Support the development and implementation of strategic priorities and provide progress updates.

  • Prepare Board meeting agendas and materials.

 

Program Development and Evaluation

  • Develop and evaluate mentorship programs, highlighting their impact to donors and stakeholders.

  • Support and optimize volunteer recruitment and engagement activities.

  • Organize volunteer meetings and support engagement strategies.

  • Assist in the identification, partnering, and stewardship of collaboration partners within the mission and scope of SBMI.

 

Compliance and Best Practices

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

  • Maintain best practices in fundraising ethics and donor stewardship.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or a similar leadership role.

  • Proven track record of successful fundraising, including event planning, donor cultivation, and grant writing.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and financial reporting.

  • Experience with CRM, email communications, and social media management.

  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities, with a focus on donor, volunteer, and partner engagement.

 

Location, Hours, Compensation

 

The work can be done remotely, but you will be expected to attend in-person events in the NY/NJ/Greater Philadelphia area. This is a part-time position with 50% effort expected. Compensation is $48,000/year.
